After gaining specialist certification in anaesthesia, I gave up my position at the Frankfurt University Hospital. I had planned to take a sabbatical before becoming a paediatric anaesthetist. A spontaneous visit to my mother’s practice in 2000 changed my trajectory after this sabbatical: instead of finding my professional fulfilment in paediatric anaesthesia, I found it in alternative medicine. We soon opened our first joint practice as a mother-daughter team in Bad Herrenalb.

What had happened? My mother, Dr. phil. Christel Keller, a committed psychologist, discovered the importance of colon cleansing for physical and mental health in the 1980s. She developed her own concept for systemic deep detoxification. Colonic hydrotherapy formed an integral part of her therapies from 1989 onwards, because the influence of the intestine on the psyche became evident and she recognised the great potential of colonic hydrotherapy for detoxifying the body.

It was this potential that persuaded me as a specialist to steer my career in a different direction. Today I am grateful to be able to live and develop this fundamental and holistic approach in my practice at the Vincenti Medical Centre in Baden-Baden.

My goal is to avert illnesses by taking preventive measures and to maintain the physical and mental capacities of my patients well into their old age. One crucial aspect of my private practice is that I can adapt the detoxification process to the current state of the patient. Many disciplines do not have this freedom because they are expected and required to care for patients in accordance with official guidelines.
