Because health is not quite that simple
In everyday life, most people assume that everything in their body is working well. In stressful times many people use vitamins and nutritional supplements to meet their increased needs. That ought to be enough, right? Unfortunately, it’s not that simple! For health is quite a complex subject. Your body comprises an incredible 30 trillion cells. These all need to be supplied with nutrients. Unfortunately, the idea that everything is delivered directly to the cells via the bloodstream is not actually true.
Ideally, food is broken down with the help of enzymes and bacteria in the gut. The nutrients reach the liver via the circulatory and lymphatic systems. The liver is a marvel of biochemistry. Like a star chef, it conjures up tasty meals from all the ingredients so that the mitochondria inside the cells can produce energy. For this to happen, the nutrients have to be sent from the liver in the circulating blood. However, even the finest blood vessels cannot deliver the precious commodity directly to the cell. Instead, the last hurdle must be overcome: the connective tissue, the space between the blood vessel and the cell.
This hurdle can be substantial, because the substances the cell cannot use end up in the connective tissue. This important hub for delivering nutrients acts as a waste deposit. Waste products accumulate there, for example the products from inflammation or metabolic residues, acids, environmental toxins, and drug residues. These deposits in turn hinder the cell’s supply of nutrients.
A healthy diet − one that does not overburden the metabolism − is essential for health. As is a lifestyle with a reasonable amount of exercise to keep the metabolism going. Unfortunately, today’s food and eating habits are not ideal. Our food is contaminated, our modern lifestyle is unbalanced. Very few people are really entirely healthy. Otherwise, why would we be talking about detoxing and promoting gut health? Holistic therapy techniques ensure that the body is relieved so that it can be optimally nourished again.
What if the digestive system is out of sync? Then you shouldn’t attribute problems such as diarrhoea, abdominal discomfort and gas to a single organ. This is especially true for complex complaints such as irritable bowel syndrome. Our digestive system works like a Swiss watch. Turning the right adjustment screw can have beneficial effects on the whole body.
